IDFPR CE requirements for Illinois Psychologists

6-mandated CE topics in 10 credits

A IDFPR Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) is required to complete 24 hours of continuing education each license cycle (except for the first license cycle, when no CE is required.) The CE must be completed during the 24 months before the expiration date printed on the license.


The CE must include the following topics/categories:

• 3 hours Ethical Practice of Psychology

• 3 hours related to Diversity

• 1 hour Sexual Harassment Prevention training

• 1 hour Implicit Bias Awareness training

• 1 hour Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias

training (required once every 3 renewal periods; add the credit to over all requirement if you take this annually)

• 1 hour Cultural Competency training (Beginning

January 1, 2025)


Prescribing Psychologists must complete an

additional 20 hours of continuing education in the

subject of pharmacology.

  • Q: I finished my course, where is my CE evaluation and exam link?

    A: On your course website, look on the left-hand side menu, and find the menu item to the CE eval and exam link. 

  • Q: I finished my exam, but I did not get my certificate, what happened?

    A: There are a few possibilities: 1. the email address you entered was misspelled. 2. The exam scored less than 80%. 3. The certificate is in the spam folder. 4. Other technical disruption. RETURN TO THE EXAM PAGE and retake the exam tend to solve many of the issues.

  • Q. I passed the exam by 70%, where is my certificate?

    A: You must pass the exam by over 80% in order to obtain your CE certificate, go back to your course page and access the CE link, retake the exam until you pass by 80%. You will be awarded your CE certificate upon passing at 80% or above.

  • Q: I created an account and paid for the course, but when I go to the dashboard, I didn't see my course, what happened?

    A: If you used PayPal to pay for your registration, you must use the same email address associated with your Paypal account to log in. Also, we often see people create two accounts by mistake due to the misspelling of email addresses. Then the paid course reside in the wrong-email-address account. Unfortunately, this requires manual help. Reach out to the Admin for assistance.
